The Cool Cat Club – Kitty Fine Dining

Fussy Felines at Frugal Kitty HQ
There are two resident cats at Frugal Kitty HQ. They are both very different in what they prefer to eat, yet both equally fussy. The baby cat is a staunch fan of dry food, happily crunching his kibble whilst having only a cursory lick of any wet food offered. The older cat on the other hand has always preferred wet food particularly the jelly which he will lick off enthusiastically leaving the dessicated meat behind. He does eat dry food albeit slightly begrudgingly. Both cats are addicted to Dreamies and will work together to break into a packet and binge on the entire contents.
Why I Tried out the Cool Cat Club
I’ll be honest — I have no veterinary training, but from my own reading and instincts, I prefer that my cats eat both wet and dry food. Dry kibble, I believe, helps with dental health, while wet food provides much-needed hydration — something that’s particularly important for cats, who aren’t always great at drinking enough water.
When the baby cat was younger, he initially enjoyed wet food. But one day, quite suddenly, he turned up his nose at every brand I offered. While I could have simply continued with dry food, it bothered me. I worried that if either cat were ever unwell, they might need the hydration and nutrients from wet food to recover. So began my search for something they’d both accept — not just tolerate, but enjoy.
The Cool Cat Club
I’d tried most of the usual brands — supermarket pouches, a few from Pets at Home — all of which were met with little more than a sniff of disdain. Then, thanks to a well-timed targeted ad, I saw an offer for the Cool Cat Club. They were offering a generous trial box for £5 with free shipping. At this price I thought it was definitely worth a try. For my hard earned £5 I received:
- 4 pouches of wet food
- 2 tins of meat
- 2 trays of meat
- A sample of dry kibble
- A pack of cat treats
That’s quite a haul for the price — and I thought it was excellent value for what promised to be high-quality food. The food from the Cool Cat Club is grain free, high in meat content and contains no added sugar. Once you have tested out which products your kitty diners enjoy you can tailor your box to contain only their favourites. They stock different textures such as fillets, flakes, smooth, shredded meat or dry food. There really is something for every fussy feline. Additionally when you buy from them they donate food to cat charities which adds to the feel good factor of the purchase.

The Taste Test
When the box arrived, it was a lovely selection — neatly packaged, thoughtfully presented, with a nice personalised touch. The real test, of course, was yet to come, having loved the trial food it was highly likely the cats would do what they excel at – turn up their little noses in contempt. The initial taste test went disappointingly as expected, the cats wouldn’t eat the pouches or the smooth meat. None the less we continued testing and moved on to the tins. This was the game changer, The little cat couldn’t eat it fast enough. He hoovered it up with gusto and, in true satisfied-cat fashion, leapt onto the sofa and spent a full five minutes licking his whiskers. That’s the universal sign of a good meal, for a cat at least.
The older cat, more measured as ever, took a little longer to come round — but once he tried the fish variety, he was on board too although given a choice was still stoically heading for his trusted Whiskers pouches.
Subscribing and Sticking With It
I rarely carry on with subscriptions past the introductory offer which I do feel a bit bad about but on this occasion I feel the cost is justified. We’re now on our third box, and I’ve customised our order to include only the tinned food, in the flavours both cats have consistently enjoyed — fish and chicken. I appreciate the flexibility — you can skip, pause, or adjust your delivery schedule easily.
That said, I don’t feed them Cool Cat Club food exclusively. It’s not the cheapest, and for day-to-day feeding, we still rely on a mix of Whiskas pouches and their favourite dry biscuits. The Cool Cat Club tins are a treat — something a little special every other meal. For me, this offers the best balance between cost and nutrition. I order around 30 tins every two months for £31.99. For the level of quality and the joy it brings to the cats (and the reduced waste of uneaten food), I think it’s worth it. Additionally, I like that I have not been spammed with endless emails from this company, which I appreciate.
The Dog Problem
There is, however, one recurring issue — the dog. He has become increasingly interested in the cats’ food and lurks in the background, waiting for them to walk away. The moment our backs are turned, he swoops in, licking the bowls clean and scuttling off sheepishly to deny all knowledge. Fortunately, even his intolerant digestive system has had no complaints so far, though I’m not keen to test his limits, the doodle tummy is not for the faint-hearted.
Final Thoughts
If you have picky eaters like mine, The Cool Cat Club is well worth a try, You absolutely cant go wrong giving it a go for £5. I love the flexibility of when to order, what to order as well as the quality of the food. While I won’t be switching over exclusively due to budget, I’m happy to have found a reliable, nutritious wet food that my cats will eat — and thoroughly enjoy.
