Geek and Gorgeous – Affordable Skincare Worth Your Money

Geek and Gorgeous – A Brand well worth trying

I first discovered Geek and Gorgeous about 18 months ago when their Jelly Joker cleanser was trending on social media. I liked the simple packaging, the scientifically backed ingredients, and the reasonable price point, of course. After cautiously trying a couple of products, I expanded my collection, and several items have since become repeat purchases. I can really see the benefits on my rosacea-prone skin.

Their range has something for everyone, from sensitive to acne-prone skin, and it’s all very competitively priced. The brand is 100% cruelty-free and does not use fragrances, colourants or unnecessary plant extracts.

Where to Buy From?

Geek & Gorgeous are a Hungarian brand and my initial purchase was directly from the Geek & Gorgeous website. I got a little stung with shipping costs to the UK. I have since bought from Amazon and the Justmylook website. I shop around to get the best price or take advantage of a gift-with-purchase offer. Geek and Gorgeous products are definitely becoming more readily available – Superdrug has recently started stocking them online, at least. For those products I have purchased, I have listed an average retail price at the time of purchase (2025) this is of course subject to change over time.

Product Reviews

Jelly Joker Cleanser

Whilst not my all-time favourite cleanser, this is a really gentle product that won’t strip the skin or upset its barrier. It’s non-foaming, which is essential for me as I tend to find anything that foams is too harsh on my rosacea-prone skin. As it is gentle, it is not necessarily the best option for removing waterproof makeup – for this, you would most likely need to use a double cleanse. Jelly Joker is a solid choice, gets great reviews and is unlikely to cause skin or eye irritation. It retails at around £8 for 150mls, so it is certainly worth trying.

Mighty Melt Cleansing Balm

I love cleansing balms because they feel so nourishing and soothing on my skin. I have always really enjoyed using Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, but it’s pretty pricey, so I’ve been trying some more affordable options. I have tried and liked the Heimish All Clean Balm, as well as the M&S Pure Cleansing Balm. Both were nice enough, but I haven’t repurchased.

The Mighty Melt Balm retails at around £12 for a 98ml tub (yes, I know, that’s a very specific quantity!). It is excellent. It has a semi-solid texture which melts almost instantly on contact with the skin. It takes off all my make-up, including waterproof mascara, and my skin feels smooth and comforted after using it. There is no greasy residue, which can be a downside of balm cleansers.

I am a loyal convert to this now; it is a truly fantastic product at a great price. I use it only in the evening to remove makeup, as I don’t think it’s necessary for a morning cleanse. I will 100% be repurchasing it as soon as it starts to run out.

Hydration Station and Happy Barrier Moisturisers

Both these moisturisers are equally great and I am hard pressed to pick a favourite between them. Hydration Station is a gel-cream with Ectoin and Glycerin. Whilst suitable for all skin types, it’s perfect for combination or oily skin. I use this for daytime use; it absorbs well and works well with other serums and SPF. Happy Barrier contains squaline and lipids. It’s great for drier skin or skin that feels irritated.

Both creams retail at around £10 for 50ml. Both are great day-time moisturisers, I would repurchase either, but Happy Barrier possibly has the edge for my sensitive skin. I do not use these at night as I prefer a face oil or a heavy cream as this feels a bit more luxurious and nourishing as part of a bedtime routine.

C-Glow Vitamin C

I had recently given up on vitamin C products as I wanted my skin to love them, but it was just getting irritated (see my Vitamin C products review here). I had sworn never to try one again, but very quickly caved in when I saw great reviews for C-Glow. This product is everything I had been searching for in a Vitamin C product. It has a slight quirk in that it is made fresh in batches every week, so to keep it fresh, I keep mine in the fridge as recommended.

It contains 15% vitamin C and Ferulic acid, and is significantly more affordable than other similar preparations, priced at around £12 per 30ml bottle. It has not caused any irritation whatsoever on my temperamental skin. I definitely feel it makes my skin look fresher with a bit of a glow. If you have sensitive skin, this product may potentially irritate. For the price, if you are going to try a Vitamin C, then I would recommend giving this one a go.

Stress Less Serum

This contains Beta-Glucan derived from oats and Madecassoside from the ubiquitous Centella asiatica. It comes in a dropper bottle and can be used to soothe irritated skin. This isn’t necessarily one to use daily, but I will definitely reach for it if my Rosacea is flaring up. It’s a very light gel and is applied with a dropper. It does not feel sticky or tacky when dry. I’m not 100% sure I would buy this again, as I have other skin-soothing products that I prefer.

Cat next to face serum
aPAD (Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate)

This is a 20% Azelclair serum, not to be confused with 20% Azelaic acid, it is actually a derivative of this. It’s good not only for oily skin but also for inflammation and pigmentation. I have seen a definite brightening effect when using this regularly, as well as fewer rosacea flare-ups. I haven’t quite worked out if I can use this alongside vitamin C, so I use them on alternate mornings. The price for both Stress Less Serum and aPAD is around £10.50 for 30ml.

Products I have tried but didn’t love

I still have a few things to try from Geek and Gorgeous, so I can’t comment on the entire range. There are only a couple of products that did not work for me. One of these was the Power Peptides serum. I wanted to love this for its collagen-boosting properties, as my crepey under-eye area has been bothering me recently. However, I did not notice any change, and I got very mild irritation from it. I am disappointed, but I wouldn’t let this deter you from trying it if you’re interested, as there are numerous positive reviews online for this product.

The other product that I would not repurchase was the liquid hydration spray. There was nothing wrong with it, but it seemed an unnecessary step in my routine; I found that I never reached for it. I may reconsider using it for holidays or in hot weather, as hydration sprays can be very refreshing, but in general, it doesn’t do much for my skin.

Summary

Geek and Gorgeous has quickly become one of my most trusted skincare brands — Their products are affordable, effective, and gentle on sensitive skin. They don’t use unnecessary fillers, fragrance, or common allergens. While not every product has been a hit for me, most have earned a permanent spot in my routine and are repeat purchases.

If you are looking to build a skincare lineup that’s gentle on your skin and budget, then Geek and Gorgeous is well worth a try. I am already keeping an eye out for any new products from their range as well as considering a trial of something from their exfoliant or retinal range. If and when I try these I will report back, they are at the pricier end of the spectrum so this frugal kitty needs to do more research before committing to purchasing these!
