Palmer’s Skincare Affordable and Effective
Palmer’s – Standing the test of time
Palmer’s is a long-established skincare brand that has been a staple in American beauty routines for over 160 years. Founded as one of the first skincare companies in the United States, Palmer’s has undergone significant evolution since its inception. Today, their extensive range includes a variety of creams, balms, oils, and haircare products, all designed to provide soothing nourishment and care to skin and hair. Palmer’s products are widely available and at a great price point, making them easy to incorporate into your daily beauty routine without breaking the bank.

Nourishing Skin and Hair
Palmer’s products are renowned for their ability to deeply moisturize dry skin and tame frizzy hair. Their iconic Cocoa Butter Formula is a testament to their commitment to using natural ingredients like cocoa butter and coconut oil, which are not only effective but also gentle on the skin. Whether you’re looking to soften dry patches or define curls, Palmer’s is likely to have a solution that meets your requirements. The only skin type that may not get on as well with these products is oily skin. Also, perhaps stating the obvious but if you are not a fan of coconut inspired scents then the smell of the products may be off putting for you! Anecdotally we have found that using the coconut hydrate seems to prevent us getting bitten by midges in the summer months. I would never rely on this as an insect repellent of course, but there is a some potential science behind this observation which is quite interesting. My mum who is a midge magnet swears by this in Summer to deter bites 🦟
Frugal Kitty’s Favorites
Below, I’ve put a list of my favourite Palmer’s products that have become staples in my beauty routine, as well as some products that I did not like.

Solid Formula
3rd Place for a me, a ‘solid’ contender ahem. This is very thick and buttery, I feel like a basted chicken when I apply this so tend to use it for targetted areas where my skin is really dry rather than an all-over treatment. The solid formula is a good one to take on holiday because it won’t leak and could be easily decanted into a smaller travel tub. It is great for heels and cuticles. I do use it on my arms and legs on occasion but it sits on the skin quite heavily and can be a bit messy. There is something very comforting about this formulation however and a tub will last a long time.
Coconut Hydrate
This is a great daily moisturiser which is not quite as heavy and rich as the other formulations. It absorbs easily and is a good one to use first thing in the morning as you do not need to wait ages for it to dry before getting dressed. It really suits my son who gets very dry itchy skin – he uses it at night after his shower. Next time I will look for a pump dispenser as I do find it a bit hard to get out of the bottle – it takes some quite vigorous shaking. Maybe I am just being a bit lazy/picky here and I could easily store it upside down to help the cream come out more easily.

Coconut Hydrate Body Oil
One of my all-time favourites for soft hydrated skin. It feels nourishing and very comforting. It is absorbed surprisingly quickly for an oil. It feels luxurious and it gives a nice sheen to the skin that looks really healthy.
Palmer’s also do a shimmer radiance oil which gives additional shimmer and glow but I have never seen this in the UK as yet. I think I would probably stick to the non-shimmer version as more usable on a day to day basis. This retails around the £5.00 mark which I feel is good value for such a lovely product.
Products I will not purchase again
I really wanted to love the Palmer’s coconut oil moisture boost shampoo & conditioner but unfortunatly It did not suit me. My hair is quite fine and flyaway and it ended up somehow feeling dry and pancake flat. I think this shampoo would work better for coarse or frizzy hair types. For the price, I do think it is worth a try as the online reviews are largely very positive but I ended up donating this to someone else as it just wasn’t right for me.
I also was not blown away by the lip balm, its fine but I there are other brands I prefer for the price such as Carmex.
Palmers also has a range of facial products including a facial oil, moisturiser, cleansing balm and face scrub. I have never tried these products but may consider them in future and will of course review them apart from the face scrub which I think would aggravate my rosacea 😊🔥
